Uncle Giuseppe’s Opens Store No. 5

PrintUncle Giuseppe’s Opens Store No. 5

Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace will celebrate the opening of its fifth location, at 37 Hicksville Road in Massapequa, N.Y., with a grand opening on May 27 at 10 a.m. The store on the south shore of New York’s Long Island has created 150 local jobs, according to the Smithtown, N.Y.-based grocer, adding that after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, there will be live singing and sampling.

Features include a meat department with a selection of steaks, poultry, roasts and Italian sausage that’s made daily in front of customers; a 62-foot-long long deli counter offering dozens of dishes made from authentic Italian recipes; a produce department with a large variety of domestic, imported, local and organic fruits and vegetables; a full Italian bakery where customers can see doughnuts being made; a candy counter with three chocolate fountains; a seafood department with live lobsters, freshly caught seafood and an assortment of prepared dinners whipped up by the store’s seafood chef; a pasta room where customers can see fresh ravioli and pasta created; a selection of hundreds of cheeses from around the world; a signature mozzarella machine imported from Italy; and groceries including gluten-free and organic items

Additionally, architectural details evoke the experience of shopping in an Italian outdoor marketplace, including hand-painted sky ceilings, Roman-style columns and archways, Italian music, and faux flames above the checkout lanes.

Founded in 1998 by brothers Philip, Carl and Joseph Del Prete, and operating partner Thomas Barresi, Uncle Giuseppe’s operates four other Long Island locations in East Meadow, Smithtown, Port Washington and Port Jefferson Station.
