Three American Cheesemakers Make Top 16 at World Cheese Awards

At the World Cheese Awards held in Birmingham, England, Sartori Cheese took home the Best USA Cheese for its Sartori Limited Edition Bella Vitano Cognac and  finished Third In The World overall. The World Cheese Awards is the largest and most diverse cheese competition in the world with more than 2,500 entries from 34 countries.
 

Among the major winners at the World Cheese Awards, Ossau Iraty AOP 10 months from Fromagerie Agour was crowned the World Champion Cheese.

In the Top 16 Supergold category, Sartori also scored multiple golds for its Sartori Limited Edition Cognac Bella Vitano and Sartori Reserve Cinnamon Rubbed BellaVitano. In all, Sartori also took homel five gold medals and a bronze. The Plymouth, Wis., specialty cheese company received gold for its Dolcina® Gorgonzola, Limited Edition Caprimenthe® and Sartori Reserve Extra Aged Fontina. SarVecchio® Parmesan, a recent winner at the Global Cheese Awards, received a bronze medal at the WCA.

Another Wisconsin cheesemaker, Carr Valley Cheese Co., was among the Top 16  Supergold winners for its goat’s milk cheese Cardona, and Missouri goat cheese company Baetje Farms LLC received Super Gold for its Bloomsdale goats milk cheese, which was inspired by Valencay.
