The Spice Lab Wins Two First Place Scovies

PrintThe Spice Lab Wins Two First Place Scovies

Considered the world’s most competitive fiery foods contest, the 2012 Scovie Awards have honored The Spice Lab with two first place awards. Viking Smoked Oak Sea Salt won in the Condiments – Not Hot and Spicy category, with the BBQ Smoked Sea Salt Collection winning in the Full Product Submissions – Gift Basket/Box category.

Produced in Denmark, Viking Smoked Oak Sea Salt is gradually smoked over an open fire, in the same way that the Vikings smoked salt generations ago. The salt has a strong bonfire-like aroma and a natural smoky taste that enhances the flavor of vegetables, meats and poultry.

The BBQ Smoked Sea Salt Collection, pictured right, is an 11 Pyrex test tube gift set, displayed in a handcrafted wooden base made from recycled lumber. Each tube holds a different, smoked sea salt containing from .6 to 1.3ounces of salt, depending on its density. A reference card offers suggestions on which salts go with which dishes and a bamboo salt spoon also is included.

The Spice Lab, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., offers more than 150 sea salts from 30 countries.
