Sunflower Farmers Market will open its first California store in the town of Roseville at 7 .a.m. on May 11.
The Boulder, Colo.-based organic and natural grocer operates 33 locations in six Southwestern states.
The new Roseville location, which will bring 100 jobs to the area, will feature fresh, local produce, all-natural meats and seafood, a large bulk selection, private-label products and natural health-and-wellness products.
The grand opening celebration will include giveaways: a reusable shopping bag filled with groceries for the first 200 customers to make a purchase, valued at over $50; and a free reusable grocery bag with purchase to the first 10,000 shoppers. Live music, vendor booths, kids’ activities, and special pricing will round out the celebration.
In keeping with Sunflower’s commitment to green business practices, the new location has energy-efficient light fixtures and occupancy sensors; recycled and refurbished equipment, cases and fixtures; and water-saving devices such sensor-operated sinks and a hot-water reclaim tank.
