Leo Gerard, international president of the United Steel Workers Union, will attend Regal Ware’s “Celebration of a Century!” on Sept. 24 at the stainless steel cookware company’s manufacturing facility on Schmidt Road in West Bend, Wis.
President Barack Obama recently appointed Gerard to the President’s Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and Negotiations. Gerard also serves as co-chairman of the BlueGreen Alliance, a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations dedicated to expanding the number and qualify of jobs in the green economy. Also, he serves on the boards of the Apollo Alliance, Campaign for America’s Future and the Economic Policy Institute.
The USW (United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union) is the largest manufacturing union in North America, representing 1.2 million active and retired industrial and service sector workers in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
In related news, Regal Ware will be hosting factory tours on Sept. 24 for the general public as part of its centennial celebration.
