Sendik's To Expand Outside of Milwaukee

PrintSendik's To Expand Outside of Milwaukee

For the first time in the grocer’s history, Sendik’s Food Market is planning a supermarket outside the four-county Milwaukee metro area.

Balistreri Enterprises LLC, operator of Sendik’s supermarkets, is seeking to open a store in Kenosha, south of Milwaukee near the Illinois state line, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. The firm has applied for a license to sell packaged beer, wine and other alcohol at that location, a former Target store, the Journal Sentinel reported.

Balistreri operates nine Sendik’s stores in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee counties; a 10th location is planned for the town of West Bend, in a former Sears Grand store, the Journal Sentinel reported. Other members of the extended Balistreri-Sendik family operate four other stores, while John and Anne Nehring operates Nehring’s Sendik’s in Shorewood.
