Plymouth, Wis.,-based specialty cheesemaker Sartori acquired Tellory, a manufacturer of premium pesto, dips and spreads, and the two companies have formed Sartori Inspirations.
Tellory's brands, Ciolo and Piccolo, are well known in the high quality fresh dip and spread market. Mallory Kates, CEO of Tellory, co-founded the company with unique recipes using only fresh, natural ingredients. The company and its core team of employees will continue to be based in Boulder County, Colo. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Tates said she has been approached by other companies wanting to buy Tellory. "But Sartori is clearly the right fit. They understand and share our values and commitment to quality and customers. It's very exciting for us to become part of a team that will not only help us continue to grow, but who can bring us so much in terms of production expertise and quality assurance."
Jim Sartori, CEO and third-generation owner of Sartori, says there are many similarities between the Sartori’s cheeses and Ciolo’s and Piccolo’s spreads and dips. "Much like our award–winning cheese company, Tellory believes in using only the finest, freshest natural ingredients. It is a solid partnership, and having a talent like Mallory on our team will be a great asset. We hope to free her up from the day to day oversight of operations and let her focus on her passion – recipe development and customer care."
