Every September since 1991, when both houses of Congress and the President of the United States endorsed September as National Rice Month, consumers are exposed to U.S.-grown rice through thousands of displays and point-of-sale materials in grocery stores.

According to the USA Rice Federation, participating retailers see an average increase in their rice sales of 50 percent to 400 percent during the promotion. Last year, the National Rice Month promotions contributed to a 6 percent increase in the sale of rice pounds during September and generated 300 million consumer impressions. More than 6,000 rice displays were built in grocery stores in 45 states.
