1. Kick off Vegetarian Month on a healthy note with specials on your meatless foods and cookbooks.
2. Yom Kippur
3. Celebrate both Pork and Country Ham Month with a Hog Wild Promotion in your Deli Department.
4. Trick or treat? Halloween is just around the corner so make sure all merchandise is in and accounted for.
5. Natural Products Expo East opens today in Baltimore, Md.
6. National German-American Day. Promote German food products and kitchenware, including beer steins.
7. Set up a Pasta Display in honor of Columbus Day and Pasta Month.
8. In honor of National Seafood Month, offer a Fish of the Week special, plus recipe suggestions in your Seafood Department.
9. Columbus Day
10. Offer discounts on all your frozen food offerings for Frozen Food Month.
11. Set up an old-fashioned popcorn cart and give away free popcorn to shoppers for National Popcorn Poppin' Month.
12. Today is a good time to recheck your Christmas orders.
13. For World Egg Day, offer specials on egg salad in your Deli Department.
14. To celebrate National Cookie Month, offer free cookies all day to shoppers and offer a 10%-off discount on all bakeware.
15. National Food Bank Week. Help sponsor a food drive.
16. In honor of World Rainforest Week, highlight your fair trade, organic and bird friendly coffees.
17. Begin interviewing for holiday sales help.
18. Popeye ate it and you should, too. For Spinach Lovers Month, hand out recipe cards with delicious and nutritious spinach-based recipes.
19. Hold a Rib-Sticking Chili Tasting in honor of National Chili Month.
