Peeps & Company, the retail arm of Just Born Inc., has signed a long-term lease with the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. The 2,500-square-foot store will open later this year.
Based in Bethlehem, Pa., Just Born is the manufacturer of Peeps, Mike and Ike, Hot Tamales, Teenee Beanee and Goldenberg’s Peanut chews candies.
Peeps & Company opened its first retail store in National Harbor, Md., in 2009. It also launched an online store, www.peepsandcompany.com, earlier this year.
The Mall of America store is “an exciting step” in the strategic development the Peeps retail brand, David Yale, president and COO of Just Born, says. “We have much reason for optimism as our first store at National Harbor has had a strong first two years, despite the continued, challenging economic environment,” he explains. “At Mall of America, our popular location within the complex, combined with our eye-catching store design and appealing products will make Peeps & Co. an absolute consumer destination."
The store will feature interactive displays, and videos featuring historic and present-day elements of the 88-year-old candy company's brands. In addition to candy, the stores will sell branded items such as apparel, accessories and gifts.
