The NPD Group / Consumer Tracking Service revealed some surprising facts about small kitchen electrics.
 

• Only 10 percent of small kitchen electrics were purchased online.
• Ten percent of small kitchen electrics purchased in the latest 12 months were for Christmas or Hanukkah.
• Despite promotions, the average selling price for small kitchen electrics is the highest in the month of December.
• Coffeemakers may be the category with the highest unit sales, but single-serve brewing systems edged them out in dollar sales.
• Consumers spent an average of 14 percent more on small kitchen electrics items purchased as a gift for someone else, than they did on items they purchased for themselves.
• Stand mixers accounted for 13 percent of online small kitchen electric dollar sales.
