Jungle Jim’s Hosts Weekend of Fire

PrintJungle Jim’s Hosts Weekend of Fire

Jungle Jim’s International Market, Fairfield , Ohio, is readying for its fourth annual hot sauce festival at its Oscar Event Center Oct. 1 and 2.

According to the retailer’s website, Weekend of Fire, Fiery Foods Show will feature more than 55 companies showcasing their zesty and mild sauces, salsas, rubs and other spicy foods for sampling and purchase.

The festival features “wild and wacky contests,” including a wing eating competition, in the Arena of Fire. For the first time, this year’s show will feature BBQ Alley, located by the Monorail Station, where there will be food and drinks for purchase.

Again this year, the store’s cooking school is getting involved. Cooking School Director Leigh Barnhart Ochs will teach new techniques and give pairing guidelines in the Eat the Heat demonstration-style class. Class menu includes Prairie Fire Morning Cocktail, Chorizo and Shrimp Stuffed Jalapeños, Havana Black Bean Dip with Chips, Grilled Hot Thighs with Tropical Heat Fruit Relish, Caribbean Spicy Sweet Potatoes,

About 500 hot sauce afficiandos attended the first Weekend of Fire, Fiery Food Show in 2007. Last year, more than 2,500 chileheads attended the weekend event.
