Harris Teeter Urges Shoppers To Go Green

PrintHarris Teeter Urges Shoppers To Go Green

As a mark of its own commitment to sustainable practices, as well as to celebrate Earth Day, Harris Teeter is urging shoppers throughout the month of April to adopt green habits. To drive this message home, the Matthews, N.C.-based grocer has teamed with various vendors on promotions that reward customers for sustainable actions, as well as giving away free reusable bags to new members of its e-VIC loyalty program.

To get a free bag, shoppers must enroll online for e-VIC on Earth Day, which this year falls on April 22. The bag will be redeemable during a subsequent transaction from April 22 through May 3. Additional e-VIC perks include receiving the company’s weekly circular by e-mail and the ability to take advantage of paperless e-VIC Coupon offers.

Also through May 3, Dannon is helping Harris Teeter shoppers earn money and improve the environment. For every dollar a Very Important Customer (VIC) card customer spends on any combination of Dannon yogurt products, she’ll earn one point. When a shopper earns 20 points, she’ll receive $3 off her next grocery bill, automatically targeted to her VIC card. Additionally, for every $1,000 worth of Dannon products bought at Harris Teeter stores, the brand will plant a tree in the community, up to 1,200 trees.

Good Cook’s program centers on recycling consumers’ old metal bakeware. Over a four-week period at participating Harris Teeter locations, shoppers who bring in their old baking pans will receive discounts on a new baking pan from the respected cookware brand. More information on the trade-in is available at Good Cook kiosks at stores taking part in the promotion.

Additionally, natural cleaning products brand Seventh Generation has joined with Harris Teeter to offer VIC card customers a free reusable bag when they buy $5 or more select Seventh Generation products from April 20 through April 26. The bag will be targeted to a shopper’s VIC card and can be redeemed during a later transaction through May 3.

Further, the grocer vows that it will keep finding new ways to cut down on waste in its stores to promote a healthier environment.
