PrintFreshDirect Unveils Shopping App

By Joseph Tarnowski

Online grocer FreshDirect has launched an application for Android mobile devices, enabling users to order groceries from just about anywhere.

The new Android app enables customers search the store, shop from previous orders and shopping lists, change existing orders, choose from early-morning to late-night delivery available time slots, and contact customer service.

FreshDirect recently released an updated version of its iPhone app, with streamlined features; now customers may shop from their Android phones, iPhones, and online at www.FreshDirect.com.

FreshDirect, which delivers local farm produce, fresh food and groceries, sources seasonal items from more than 60 local farms. This means that produce checks in and heads right out, sans middleman, keeping fruits, vegetables, and dairy products fresher for longer in customers’ refrigerators, according to the grocer.

FreshDirect’s also features chef-prepared offerings, such as: Heat and Eat, Ready to Cook, and Sides in a Snap. Nutritionist-approved Kids Meals make sure kids get a complete serving of vegetables, along with vitamins and nutrients; regardless of childhood chaos. 4-Minute Meals cooked just hours before were developed to allow busy families eat real meals when they want them, with 70 varieties to choose from, including meals with two or more servings of vegetables and those high in fiber.

Long Island City, N.Y.-based FreshDirect serves customers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and is known for its fresh-from-the-farm foods and brand-name groceries at everyday low prices, all delivered to customers’ doors.
