First Colony Ceases Ops

PrintFirst Colony Ceases Ops

First Colony Coffee and Tea, Norfolk, Va., has ceased operations and has granted White Coffee Corp., Long Island City, N.Y., exclusive rights to roast, package and distribute its coffees.

Brands include First Colony, Discoveries, Bakers Treat and seasonal labels and gifts.

“The First Colony brand could not be in better hands,” says Bruce Grembowitz, First Colony Coffee president, in a statement posted on the company’s website. “We are safe in the knowledge that the White Coffee Corp will continue the tradition of supplying the finely crafted coffees our customers have come to expect.”

"We are truly excited to be working with such well respected brands," said Jonathan White, White Coffee executive vice president. "We look forward to offering the same great coffees and packaging, and we look forward to welcoming First Colony users into the White Coffee family."

First Colony’s origins date back to 1902, when it was doing business as the James G. Gill Co. White Coffee, a third generation women-owned and certified business, has been selling quality coffee since 1939. Their offerings include specialty single origins, certified organics, fair trade and Rainforest Alliance coffees.
