Heimerdinger Cutlery, a Louisville, Ky.-based retailer, celebrates 150 years in business this year.

The family-owned business started as A. Heimerdinger: Cutler and Sewing Machine repair. Since then, the specialty retailer has established itself as the go-to place for kitchen and pocket knives, knife making supplies, scissors, shaving needs, sharpening stones, magnifiers and many other items.

Heimerdinger Cutlery kicked off its anniversary celebration March 17-19. In addition to its 150 years in business, the store also celebrated W.C. Heimerdinger, the second generation owner’s birthday. W.C. ran the store until 1918. Today, the business, which includes an e-tail store, is run by the fourth-generation family member Carl Heimerdinger and his wife, Glenna Fahle Heimdinger.
