Discover Design Expands Space at Housewares Show

PrintDiscover Design Expands Space at Housewares Show

Discover Design, showcasing inspired design and cutting-edge product innovation, will increase in space and the number of exhibitors at the 2012 International Home + Housewares Show, March 10-13 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Expanded to nearly 100 companies this year, Discover Design is located in the Dine + Design Expo in the South Building.

“Last year, in its inaugural outing, Discover Design was a resounding success, attracting a steady flow of buyers the entire show,” said Phil Brandl, president of the International Housewares Association, which owns and operates the Show. “It added an exciting element to the Show with the Discover Design Gallery and announcement of the Global Innovation Award for product design.”

Among the new companies exhibiting this year are Alessi, ASA, Cristel, Design House Stockholm, Eva Solo, Guzzini, Kinto and Nambé. Among the full list of Discover Design exhibitors are Blomus, Joseph Joseph, Robert Welch and Stelton. New for 2012, the category will also feature Design Pods.

Also planned for Discover Design are:

  • Educational seminars for exhibitors on Saturday morning, March 10.
  • An expanded Discover Design Gallery.
  • A Discover Design Wine Bar.

Discover Design companies will be eligible to compete for Global Innovation Awards (gia) for product innovation and booth design. The winners will be announced at the invitation-only gia dinner on Sunday, March 11.

All products submitted for the gia award will be displayed in the Discover Design Gallery.
