Delhaize banner Bloom is reinvigorating its seven supermarkets in the Hampton Roads, Va., area by cutting prices, offering more organic and gluten-free options, and introducing such décor improvements as easier-to-navigate aisles, a new color scheme and better lighting.
The changes are the result of recent surveys of customers in the region, Benny Smith, a spokesman for Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion LLC, a subsidiary of Belgian retail conglomerate Delhaize Group, told the local Virginian-Pilot newspaper. The refreshed Blooms will open today with special events such as food giveaways.
“We’re just trying to really refocus our energies in the Hampton Roads area,” Smith was quoted in the newspaper, “because it’s a high-performing area for us.”
The fiirst Bloom store opened in 2005.
