For the 7th year in a row, 75 year-old artisan cheese company Rogue Creamery, based in Central Point, Ore., lent its support and sponsorship to the ashland independent film festival (aiff). The festival is in Ashland, Ore., a town known for its Shakespearean Theater.
The festival, held April 7-11, brought independent and Oscar-winning feature films, documentaries, shorts and other cinematic endeavors to a discerning audience of film enthusiasts and fans.
This year’s festival marked the sixth annual Rogue Creamery Audience Choice Best Documentary Feature awarded to Ashland Filmmakers Kim Shelton and Bill McMillan for “The Welcome,” a film that follows a five-day healing retreat for veterans and family members.
Each year, Rogue Creamery hosts “Savor the Rogue” — the annual aiff’s Opening Night Bash which is held at the historic Ashland Springs Hotel. Guests indulged in Rogue Creamery’s sustainably made award-winning cheeses, along with signature Southern Oregon wines and beers, top-shelf chocolates and other delectable specialty food from the region.
“The celebration was an opportunity to stage the finest artisan cheese, food, wine and beer from our valley and share that with producers, directors, actors and actresses from around the world,” says David Gremmels, who co-owns Rogue Creamery with Cary Bryant. “It was colorful, exciting, vibrantly delicious and full of genuinely kind people.”
