Lowes Food Stores’ Locally Grown Club will feature Oakboro, N.C.-based Greenfield Farms Food Inc., a consumer- and wholesale-driven producer of grass-fed beef
Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Lowes Foods collaborates with Tar Heel State farmers on the program, which enables members to receive a diverse selection of fresh vegetables on a weekly basis. Greenfield products will be highlighted in promotional and informational material included with each customer pickup.
“Lowes Foods has been an early supporter of our grass-fed beef program and continues that support with this initiative,” said Larry Moore, president and CEO of Greenfield, which operates a cold storage and distribution facility in Oakboro. “Additionally Lowes Foods continues to demonstrate its support of local farms by promoting their products in this and many other programs throughout the company.”
Greenfield and its collective group of producers represent more than 2,500 acres in pasture under management and about 2,000 head of cattle. The company is a recognized producer of grass-fed beef by the USDA-Food Safety and Inspection Service and is approved to carry the designation "Grass-fed Beef" on all product labeling.
