The National Association for the Specialty Trade (NASFT), Statesboro, Ga., announced that Braswell Food Co. has been selected as a Silver Finalist in two categories in the 2011 NASFT sofi Awards Competition.
This year’s competition was stiff, with a record 1,657 entries. Braswell's Select Smoky Chipotle Mustard was selected as a finalist in the Outstanding Condiment category; Braswell's Select Balsamic Sweet Onion Jam was selected as an Outstanding Jam, Preserve, Honey or Nut Butter Finalist. As a Silver Finalist in the competition, Braswell's will be featured in a red-carpet awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. that will be hosted by noted Iron Chef and television food personality Cat Cora.

Braswell's Select Smoky Chipotle Mustard was released earlier this year at the NASFT Fancy Food Show in San Francisco. It is one of five products in a new condiment line that features premium boldly infused mustards and unique relishes. Smoky Chipotle Mustard is a blend of top-shelf mustard, sharp horseradish, and smoky chipotle peppers. It is not an overly hot condiment, but it does pack a wallop of flavor. Condiments by definition should compliment other foods, and Braswell's Select Smoky Chipotle Mustard is the perfect partner for everything from ballpark franks to elegant, low-country crab cakes. The mustards and relishes are packaged in 9-oz French juice glasses that are as earth-friendly as they are functional. Other varieties in the line include Champagne Garlic Dill Horseradish Mustard, Hot Horseradish Mustard, Vidalia Onion Relish and Sweet Pepper Relish.
Braswell's Select Balsamic Sweet Onion Jam has been a favorite of foodies everywhere since it was introduced in 2004. It is made with Sweet Georgia Onions, imported balsamic vinegar and pure cane and brown sugars. This all-natural jam is sweet and tangy, and is used as a very welcome "surprise" layer of flavor on warm brie, burgers and sandwiches or even as a finishing glaze for roasted pork loin. Balsamic Sweet Onion Jam is one of 30 jams, preserves and fruit butters that are attractively packaged in Braswell's reusable European glassware. Other flavors include Fig Preserve, Peach Apricot Preserve and Sweet Potato Butter.
