It is estimated that before the Europeans arrived on this continent, somewhere between 30 and 70 million bison, or buffalo, roamed the vast central plains from the northernmost Mexican states well up into Canada. »

Will the high-tech perfection of shopping mean the end of shopping? And what will Americans do with themselves when there are no endless holiday sales lines in which to stand? Of all the error-prone human activities that digital technology is working to streamline ¿ searching for love, diagnosing illness, finding driving directions, racing around in search of a good deal may be one of those we miss the most. As crazy as it sounds, I think several electronic business models are waiting to happen, or have started happening. »

Each month, The Gourmet Retailer Magazine will be publishing reviews of new products hitting the market. The new items we'll be examining are products just entering the marketplace or goods that will be introduced in the coming months. An editor will sift through an assortment of products, tasting, testing, and contemplating their future at retail. They will then communicate their impressions to you, along with product descriptions, photos, and manufacturer contact information. We're constantly being asked by readers what we've found lately that is cool or worthy of your inventory and we decided it was about time we shared those assessments with a larger audience. Enjoy! »

Bling bling seems to be the newest word in the English language, or is it words? It's a Hollywood-originated word that means bright and shiny accessories. Everything these days seems to be bright and shiny. You see lots of diamonds and jewels perched on sparkling fabric apparel and metallic leather purses. Glowing pearl seems to be the next "shiny" in thing on the horizon. Today, we need sunglasses day and night for all the brightness in the world. Probably, it's a great time to own stock in a glitter company. »

Two Cups a Day May Keep Liver Failure at Bay
A recent study conducted by researchers from the U.S. National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases and from Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. suggests that drinking more than two cups of coffee and/or tea a day may help reduce the risk of chronic liver disease in people at high risk for liver injury. This protective effect was observed in people at higher risk for liver injury due to heavy drinking, obesity, diabetes, or iron overload. Analyzing 19 years of data on nearly 10,000 people whose coffee and tea intake had been evaluated over time, the researchers found that people who drank more than two cups of coffee or tea a day developed chronic liver disease half as often as people who consumed less than a cup of coffee or tea a day.
