Starfrit Light Cast Iron Pan
Okay. We took this pan home from the International Home + Housewares Show, handed it over to the kitchen staff at the restaurant and received only one comment: “I need to order these!” Starfrit’s Light Cast Iron Pan is made in a metal mold, not a sand mold, creating a pan that has lost 50 percent of the weight, but none of the traditionally appreciated features of cast iron pans. A reinforced ceramic surface prevents rust with no PTFE, no PFOAs and no toxic fumes, even when using high heat. The new light cast iron retains and transmits heat quickly and evenly for perfect browning without needing to use a maximum heat setting, thereby also using less energy. The riveted stainless steel handle stays cool to the touch while on the stovetop and is oven-safe as well. The Light Cast Iron Pan comes in a range of five sizes, from a 9.5-inch Fry Pan to a 13-inch Fry Pan. A 12-inch wok with stainless steel lid is also available. Our chef fell in love with the 9.5-inch size and is stocking the kitchen shelves as we go to print. For more information, visit www.starfritusa.com
