J Truffles
Seattle Chocolates has launched a new line called J Truffles, a luscious and elegant collection of truffles that look more like they were designed by an architect than a chocolatier. The shapes range — in my mind anyway — from the ancient Mayan pyramids to the spires of art deco skyscrapers, all of which is but a thin chocolate veneer, easily giving way to the rich and delicious creamy fillings. All eight varieties are wonderful but I suppose, if I had to pick, my favorites are the Crème Brûlée, Cherry Praliné and, curiously, the Limoncello, a dark chocolate shell filled with white chocolate ganache with lemon zest and fresh cream. Other flavors include Magma 65 Dark, Savory Hazelnut, Crème 40 Milk, Salt Water Caramel and Pura Vida Café. Seattle Chocolates makes many fine products but these new truffles are extraordinary, and they are as beautiful to look at as to eat.
