Gluten-Free Cookies From Mary’s Gone Crackers
With several family members now living gluten-free, I am always on the lookout for tasty gluten-free treats. Long ago, I brought home Mary’s Gone Crackers ’ gluten-free crackers for the youngest daughter who had been advised to get off wheat and gluten. They were and continue to be a big hit with everyone. Now, Mary has gone cookies, too, with a great new line of gluten-free cookies that could very easily go undercover as traditional wheat-based cookies. Incredibly, they have no butter either, a boon for the daughter who is also off dairy, much to the dismay of her cheese-writing stepfather. Anyway, these cookies are delicious, butter or not. Mary has launched three flavors, with the promise of more to come. So far, the flavors include Chocolate Chip, Ginger Snaps and “N’Oatmeal” Raisin Cookies (meaning there is no actual oatmeal in the mix. Oats can be a problem for people who are gluten-sensitive because oats are often processed in the same facilities as wheat. Also, some believe oats actually contain some amount of gluten for which, I believe, the jury is still out). Again, you would never know these cookies are anything but traditional cookies baked by your mother, assuming your mother can bake as well as the folks at Mary’s Gone Crackers.
