Pleasant Ridge Reserve Wins Top Prize at ACS

Beating out more than 1,400 entries, Extra Aged Pleasant Ridge Reserve, from Uplands Cheese Co. in Dodgeville, Wis., won the coveted Best in Show award at American Cheese Society (ACS) annual competition in Seattle Aug. 28.This is the third time in 10 years the farmstead, washed-rind cheese, has won the honor.

Andy Hatch, cheesemaker at Uplands, crafted the award- winning cheese that’s made in the style of a French Beaufort D’Alpage. Only 1,000 wheels are available. For more information about Pleasant Ridge Reserve, visit www.uplandscheeseco.com.

In the Best of Show competition, Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery, Websterville, Vt., took second place for its Bonne Bouche, and Farms for City Kids, Reading, Vt., took third place for its Spring Brook Farm Tarentaise.
