Oolong Shot From Ito En

March 22, 2009

You've heard of black tea and green tea, and even white tea. But have you heard of blue tea? That's what oolong tea is referred to in Japan. Oolong is tea that has been fermented, or oxidized, in between green and black varieties. In other words, longer than green tea and not as long as black tea. The people of Japan and China have long believed that oolong is useful to maintain a healthy weight. Ito En, Japan's premier purveyor of green tea and bottled green tea, has introduced Oolong Shot, an unsweetened powerhouse shot of oolong tea with heaping amounts of polyphenols, the antioxidants found naturally in tea. There is ongoing research in the United States and abroad on the healthful properties of oolong tea, much of which suggests that it may support cardiovascular and digestive health. The little 6.4-ounce tin of Oolong Shot is brewed from loose tea leaves with no sugar or artificial anything, and it easily fits in a purse, gym bag or briefcase. I don't have a big problem with my weight, but the Oolong Shot was very refreshing and energizing. For more information, call 718-250-4000, e-mail comments@itoen.com or visit www.itoen.com.
