Fresh & Easy to Launch 25 New Wines

March 29, 2009

Over the next three months, Tesco's small-format U.S. grocery chain, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, will introduce 25 new wines, 15 of which will be exclusive to Fresh & Easy, and crafted by a Certified Master of Wine, the company said.

The new local and imported wines range from $1.99 to $40 per bottle. The food retailer also started a new wine promotion, where customers can get 20 percent off any six or more bottles of wine through April 21. The grocer previously offered a 10 percent discount on six or more bottles of wine since November, excluding cases, according to Fresh & Easy.

The new wine selection includes a California Cabernet from Sonoma, a Malbec from Argentina, sparkling wines from Italy, and a Tempranillo-Shiraz and Ribera del Duero from Spain.

"We're always hunting for new wines so our customers have something new to enjoy. We have some great picks coming from California, Washington, Argentina, Spain and Australia," said Fresh & Easy wine buyer Karen Fletcher. "Now that we're offering all of our wine at 20 percent off six -- which is our best deal yet -- it's a great opportunity for our customers to try something new, or to buy their favorite wines at a great price."

El Segundo, Calif.-based Fresh & Easy has won nearly 60 awards for its specially selected wines, half of which are for wines under $11.
