The 2009 Housewares Design Awards has announced the winners of its
first-ever "Green House" Design Awards, a new award category for
eco-friendly housewares design. Now in its sixth year, the
Housewares Design Awards are presented by HomeWorld Business
with educational support from the International Housewares
Association and sponsorship by DuPont™ Teflon®.
The "Green House" honorees -- Cuisinart CleanWater Countertop
Filtration System, NatureMill's NatureMillPro, and Preserve's
Preserve Kitchen -- were chosen for their new product innovation in
meeting the needs of today's eco-conscious consumer with smart
eco-friendly design. The winners were chosen from more than 300
entries in this year's annual competition.
The Cuisinart CleanWater Countertop Filtration System reduces
contaminants such as chlorine, mercury and copper. With a
two-gallon capacity, it has two spigots for dispensing hot, cold or
room temperature water. Each NSF-certified filter has an average
life of 80 gallons, representing three to four months of average
household use.
The NatureMillPRO is a fully automatic, indoor home composter made
from recycled materials that are 100 percent recyclable.
Preserve Kitchen by Preserve is made from 100 percent recycled
plastic and is 100 percent recyclable without disassembly. This
USA-made collection features colanders, cutting boards, mixing
bowls and food storage containers.
The three Green House Award winners, along with all Housewares
Design Awards winners, will receive their awards at a ceremony and
luncheon Jan. 20, 2009 at the Marriott New York Marquis. For more
