Vita-Mix Corporation, the company that invented the infomercial in
1949, is launching Pitch Me!, a nationwide contest in search of a
new television personality to demonstrate the Vita-Mix blender, the
innovative kitchen appliance that inspires creativity and healthy
living.
As the company searches for the next great infomercial star,
consumers are invited to submit a video of their best Vita-Mix
demonstration pitch to www.VitamixTV.com between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31,
2009.
The winner of the Pitch Me! contest will receive a $10,000 cash
prize and may even star in future Vita-Mix television advertising.
There are over $20,000 in total cash prizes.
"This fun viral marketing promotion will create a positive buzz in
the blogosphere, Vita-Mix Web sites and social networking sites,
which will build awareness and sales during the busy holiday
season. This will be a big bonus for retailers," said Dan Koch,
Vita-Mix sales manager of the retail/dealer division.
Contestants will be judged based on artistic merits, selling skills
including on-camera persuasive ability, and entertainment
value.
Judges will select finalists between Jan. 1 and Jan. 5, 2010.
Vita-Mix enthusiasts are invited to vote for their favorite
finalists' videos between Jan. 11 and Jan. 20, 2010.
The winners will be announced on Jan. 26, 2010.
