Not one, not two, but three BODUM products were selected as winners
in the 2008 Good Design Award. The three products chosen for this
internationally renowned seal of design excellence included the new
PRESSO Double Wall Glass with Colored Silicone Band, the BISTRO
Stainless Steel Double Wall French Press Coffee Maker and the
CANTEEN Double Wall Tea Cup with Infuser.
Slated for debut at the 2009 International Home + Housewares Show
in March; the PRESSO Double Wall Glass is the latest addition to
the award-winning BODUM Double Wall Glass Collection. Made of
heat-resistant borosilicate glass, the PRESSO glasses -- available
with interchangeable colored silicone band -- will keep hot
contents hot for a much longer period of time while remaining cool
to the touch, and will keep cold contents cold without
condensation.
BODUM products are designed with more than style in mind. Since its
inception, the BODUM French Press system has been one of the
"greenest" methods for brewing coffee. The BODUM press system does
not require the use of disposable paper filters and the brewing
process itself is entirely manual -- that is, "unplugged." As a
company lowering its carbon footprint by implementing sustainable
manufacturing processes, the BODUM-owned factory in Portugal that
produces the BODUM Chambord as well as other BODUM products uses
renewable energy.
Founded in Chicago in 1950 by architects Eero Saarinen, Edgar
Kaufmann Jr. and Charles and Ray Eames, GOOD DESIGN bestows
international recognition upon the world's most prominent designers
and manufacturers for advancing new, visionary and innovative
product concepts, invention and originality, and for stretching the
envelope beyond what is considered basic product and consumer
design. This year, the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture
and Design received submissions from more than 48 countries for
this award program, representing the work of thousands of designers
and manufacturers.
